Meet the Artist
My work explores the relationship between intuition and intention. Through color, shape, texture, and layered surfaces, I respond to each mark as it emerges, allowing uncertainty and discovery to guide the process. I move between instinct and decision, building a painting through a continual exchange between what I intend and what the work asks of me. Each painting becomes a conversation—an evolving search for balance, tension, and resolution rather than a predetermined statement.
My abstract paintings are rooted in a desire to create a sense of presence. I am drawn to softened edges, muted earth tones, subtle contrasts, and moments of unexpected color. I am interested in the space between quiet and vibrant, control and spontaneity, and structure and freedom. When a painting finds its balance, there is a feeling of ease—an almost physical sense that everything has fallen into place.
My work is influenced by my background as a psychotherapist, my travels through more than 30 countries, and the practice of Vipassana meditation. These experiences have shaped the way I observe, listen, and respond. Travel has deepened my sensitivity to color, landscape, architecture, and the particular character of place, while meditation has taught me to remain present with uncertainty and to notice what arises without immediately trying to control it. My experience as a therapist continues to inform my interest in perception, emotion, and the layers of experience that shape how we see and understand the world.
Ultimately, I am interested in creating paintings that invite a pause. I want the work to offer a quiet sense of beauty and openness—something that can be felt before it needs to be understood.
Working primarily in acrylic and oil on canvas, I translate lived experience across mediums.
